Taking a Mersey Ferry to work offers a relaxed, healthy way to travel and is the most direct route between Seacombe and Liverpool City Centre.

We run a frequent weekday service between our Seacombe terminal and Liverpool’s Pier Head, with a journey time of around 10 minutes. As well as offering a unique commute, our service also offers you free parking at Seacombe and discounted weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual passes.


A full timetable is available, but, as a quick guide, morning services begin at 7.20am and run at 20 minute intervals, evening services start from 5.00pm.

If you would like regular updates on the ferry services you can sign up for text alerts. Please text FERRY to 81025 to be added to the Commuter Club and receive FREE TEXT Messages when there is disruption to the ferry sailings. To 'sign up' or 'stop' Mersey Ferry Commuter Club alerts, each text will cost 8p, network rates may apply. 


You may be aware that we’ve secured funding via the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority for up to two new Mersey Ferries and necessary improvements to our Seacombe facilities to secure their future for generations to come.

The first new Mersey Ferry is expected to enter service in autumn 2021 and we will need to ensure that the boarding and alighting infrastructure at the terminal is in place for then.

We are still in the process of reviewing what work needs to be done and how this can be undertaken to minimise disruption for our customers. We are therefore not yet in a position to give any detailed information. We do, however, envisage the works starting at some point between spring and late summer 2020 which may require a short closure of Seacombe to ferry services, during which time a commuter service will be operational from Woodside if need be.
