Taking a Mersey Ferry to work offers a relaxed, healthy way to travel and is the most direct route between Seacombe and Liverpool City Centre.
We run a frequent weekday service between our Seacombe terminal and Liverpool's Pier Head, with a journey time of around 10 minutes. As well as offering a unique commute, our service also offers you free parking at Seacombe and discounted weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual passes.

If you would like regular updates on the ferry services you can sign up for text alerts. Please text FERRY to 81025 to be added to the Commuter Club and receive free text messages when there is a disruption to the ferry sailings. To 'sign up' or 'stop' Mersey Ferry Commuter Club alerts, each text will cost 8p, network rates may apply.
Seacombe Ferry Terminal is temporarily closing for major refurbishment works in the new year.
The works will see the linkspan bridges, which are over 130 years old and coming to the end of their operational life, replaced and the landing stage undergo a major refurbishment, including upgrading the mooring bollards and installing new powered gangways. The pontoon will be removed from the water to carry out these works.
This should allow the stage to operate for another 25 years before any major maintenance intervention is needed.
For the duration of these works, the ferries will not be able to berth and therefore Seacombe Ferry Terminal will close.
Our commuters will still be able to travel cross-river as services will be running between Pier Head terminal in Liverpool and Woodside terminal in Wirral, for the duration of the works. Cross-river services will also operate during the day.
Ferry services will be suspended after the final commuter services on Friday 18 December 2020. They will resume at Woodside from the first commuter service on Monday 4 January 2021. The works are due to be completed in summer 2021.
The same timetable as is currently used at Seacombe will apply to commuter services at Woodside. Commuters who pay for weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly passes will also still benefit from free parking at Woodside.

Hourly weekday cross river services will operate between 10:00 - 16:30

If you’re thinking of using the ferry then please be aware that social distancing measures will be in place, so you need to plan your journey in advance and leave more time for your journey.
We’re asking customers to pay by contactless/card payments and don’t forget you can use the ticket machines at the terminals - this is to protect both you and our staff.
It’s also important practice good hygiene – avoid touching surfaces, your face, and wash your hands properly both before and after your journey.
Please note - face coverings must be worn at all times on the ferry and in the terminals.
